VICTIM: MALE VICTIM'S NAME BEING WITHHELD PENDING NOTIFICATION TO FAMILY
SUMMARY:
On Monday, March 8th, 2010, at approximately 6:32 a.m., Deputies of the Victorville Police Station were dispatched to a report of a possible fatal traffic collision at Air Expressway and Gasline Rd., in the City of Victorville.
Deputies arrived to find that a big-rig truck collided with a Hyundai coupe at the intersection. The driver of the Hyundai did not survive the crash. The driver of the truck was transported to Victor Valley Hospital for report of pain. Through investigation it was learned that the driver of the Hyundai attempted to make a left hand turn from Gasline Rd onto Air Expressway and turned directly in front of an eastbound Apex Bulk Commodities big-rig. There is a camera onboard the truck that may provide useful information to the crash investigators. Investigation shows the victim was not wearing a seatbelt. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, nor do they suspect fatigue to play be a contributing factor, as the driver of the truck had just started his work day.
This is an ongoing investigation by Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
