SUSPECT: BRIAN BOSTIC, AGE 44 OF VICTORVILLE
SUMMARY:
On Monday, February 15th, 2010 at approximately 2:36 p.m., Deputies of the Victorville Police Station were dispatched to a report of a female having been shot by her husband. The reporting party was the 14 year-old son of the 35 year-old female victim. He stayed on the line with dispatch as deputies and fire were in route to the scene, giving encouraging updates that his mom was still awake and breathing.
Initial reports were that the suspect, the victim's estranged husband, had shot her and then fled the area in his pickup truck. Deputies had been to the residence earlier that day to document an incident that was caused by a mishap and both parties were calm at that time. As deputies responded to the attempt murder call, they arrived on scene to find the suspect's vehicle was still in the driveway. Deputies soon discovered the suspect in his vehicle, deceased from what appeared to be a self inflicted gunshot wound.
Through investigation it was learned that the suspect returned to the victim's home this afternoon and shot her with a handgun, while three children approximate ages of 3, 5 and 14 were in a nearby room. The suspect then fled the residence to his vehicle where deputies later located him. A handgun and a shotgun were also located in the vehicle.
The victim suffered serious injuries to her face and was transported by air ambulance to Loma Linda University Medical Center where she's reportedly doing well. A nearby family member was contacted to pick up and care for the victim's children.
