SUSPECT:       MARIO MEDINA, AGE 36 OF VICTORVILLE

SUMMARY:

On Monday, March 1st, 2010, at approximately 11:35 p.m., Deputy David Carpenter was dispatched to a well check in the 14000 block of Navarro Dr., Victorville.  The reporting party stated that her disabled son resides at the location, but believed her son's roommate had been taking her son's checks and the roommate had waved a gun at her son earlier in the evening.

Deputy Carpenter arrived at the location and found the victim reluctant to give information to him. Deputies then did a search of the residence and located the suspect lying on a bed.  The suspect did not respond to Deputy Carpenter and as Carpenter neared the suspect he observed a handgun in the hand of the suspect, with the suspect's finger on the trigger.  At this time deputies had not confirmed a crime had occurred.

Deputies exited the residence and called Sheriff's SWAT to the location. Meanwhile, deputies further investigated the circumstances and confirmed that the suspect was a felon and therefore forbidden possession of a firearm.  SWAT arrived on scene, evacuated nearby homes, gave commands to the suspect to peacefully exit the residence and prepared to make entrance into the residence.  At approximately 5:05 a.m., the suspect exited the back of his residence and surrendered.  Suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Suspect Mario Medina was arrested and booked at Victor Valley Jail on charges of PC12021-Felon in possession of a firearm and PC245(a)(1)- Assault with a deadly weapon.
