SUSPECT: DANIEL RIOS, AGE 35 OF ADELANTO
JUSTIN CRAWFORD, AGE 31 OF ADELANTO
SUMMARY:
On Monday, January 11th, 2010, at approximately 11:13 p.m., Deputies of the Victorville Police Station were dispatched to a business in the 15000 block of Palmdale Rd. The reporting party stated there were people behind a business that should be closed for the night.
Deputies Sherman Garnett and Maria Gascon were first on scene. The business has a locked fence that surrounds it to secure the ornamental lawn decorations that are kept outside of the business. Deputies found the gate unlocked and located two suspects loading lawn decorations into a truck at the back of the business. Deputies attempted to detain both suspects while they ascertained the situation. Suspect Crawford complied with commands and was detained without incident. Suspect Rios would not comply with deputy's commands and then reached for his back pocket, where deputies later located a razorblade. Deputies attempted to gain control of Rios who was fighting with them. After a short physical altercation, Rios was cuffed and detained for further questioning.
Through investigation it was learned that Crawford had previously been employed by the business and used a key, he was no longer supposed to have in his possession, to access the gate. One of the deputies and suspect Rios were both seen at a local hospital for moderate injuries sustained in the physical altercation. The deputy was treated and released the same night. Suspect Rios was treated and later released back to deputies the same night.
Rios was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center on charges of PC459-Commercial burglary and PC69-resisting arrest. Crawford was arrested and booked at Victor Valley on charges of PC459-Commercial burglary.
