What is Safe City?

Safe City is a community-based initiative that unites law enforcement, businesses, residents and city officials through a project intended to maximize safeness and minimize theft and other crimes in communities.

Safe City is designed to address the need for private and public-sector information-sharing mechanisms at both the national and local levels. Its objectives are:

  • Provide members a forum for education and training on infrastructure vulnerabilities and protection measures
  • Provide members prompt, value-added threat advisories, alerts, and warnings
  • Increase the quantity and quality of infrastructure intrusion/threat reports provided to local offices (for investigation and follow-up)
  • Increase interaction and information sharing among businesses, their associated local police on infrastructure threats, vulnerabilities, and interdependencies.
  • It is our goal to improve and extend information sharing between private industry and the government, particularly the police, when it comes to local infrastructures.

Safe City is a community based initiative that leverages partnerships and technology to help communities and businesses reduce crime and create an environment where people feel safe and secure. Through your commitment and effort,  your city, neighborhood or business can implement a Safe City project.

Reducing Crime, Threats & Driving Community Safety
Corporate partnerships are more important than ever and far greater resources are needed to address the magnitude of the threats we now face. Target Corporation is proud to be a national program sponsor for the Safe City Program.

By uniting businesses, residents, city officials and law enforcement in a plan to reduce crime and build awareness, we can help communities create safer areas to live, work and shop. The key building blocks to success are Partnerships and Technical Solutions.

  • The backbone and strength of the Safe City program lies in a strong partnership with local law enforcement.
  • A collaborative effort with community organizations, businesses, property management and law enforcement plays a significant role in building and maintaining the Safe City Program.
